Twenty-Two Years and Counting – Brigham and Women’s Hospital Ranked on U.S. News Honor Roll

BWH has been named to the U.S. News & World Report’s 2014 Honor Roll of America’s Best Hospitals.

For the twenty-second year in a row, Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) has been named to the U.S. News & World Report’s Honor Roll of America’s Best Hospitals, ranking ninth. The Honor Roll highlights just 17 hospitals, out of nearly 5,000 nationwide, for their breadth and depth of clinical excellence.

We’ve gathered a few recent blog posts in our top ranked clinical categories to recognize the dedication and accomplishments of our doctors, nurses, researchers, and other members of our clinical teams.

#5 Cardiology & Heart Surgery

For nearly a century, the Heart & Vascular Center at BWH has been at the forefront of innovation and discovery in heart and vascular care and research.

#5 Rheumatology

The Division of Rheumatology, Immunology and Allergy offers comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and management for arthritis and other rheumatic diseases, including specialized treatment for interstitial lung disease and other rheumatologic conditions.

#6 Nephrology

The Renal Division is devoted to the understanding and treatment of kidney disease. The Renal Division has a rich history, including performing the first organ transplant – a kidney from one twin to another – in 1954.

#12 Diabetes & Endocrinology

The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Hypertension provides  clinical care for patients with endocrinological disorders and all types of hormonal disorders, including diabetes, hypertension, and thyroid disease.

# 13 Neurology & Neurosurgery

The Institute for the Neurosciences offers innovative and advanced treatments and therapies for all diseases of the nervous system. Our clinical team – one of the largest and most specialized teams anywhere – includes neurologists, neurosurgeons, psychiatrists, and radiologists.

#13 Pulmonology

The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine provides comprehensive pulmonary care, for even the most complex cases, to thousands of patients each year. Our pulmonary services span the entire spectrum of patient care, ranging from lung disease prevention and detection to medication and interventional treatment. The Division works closely with the Division of Thoracic Surgery to evaluate and treat complex respiratory disorders.

#14 Geriatrics

The Center for Older Adult Health is focused on the needs of patients 65 and older who require primary or consultative care. The clinical team works with patients to optimize overall health and to achieve the goals important to that individual – from helping patients maintain good health to treating acute and chronic conditions.

# 20 Orthopedics

The Department of Orthopedic Surgery provides expert diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal system diseases and injuries. Our specialists in Orthopedic Surgery, Physiatry, Rheumatology, and Rehabilitation provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment for thousands of patients annually.

#23 Gastroenterology & GI Surgery

The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endoscopy provides a full range of services for patients with disorders of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, pancreas, and liver. Outpatient services include specialty clinics for GI oncology and patients with pancreatic disease, biliary disease, liver disease, and inflammatory bowel disease.

#38 Urology

The Division of Urology provides expert, individualized care for a range of urologic conditions, from the common to complex — including cancer care through our role as surgical oncologists for Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center.

#49 Ear Nose & Throat (Otolaryngology)

The Division of Otolaryngology provides comprehensive medical and surgical services for diseases of the head and neck. This includes management of diseases of the ears, hearing disorders, ear infections, nasal and sinus problems, sleep disorders (including snoring), swallowing disorders, voice pathology, and disease and tumors of the head and neck, and plastic and reconstructive surgery of the head and neck.
